More Snow

In honor of the snow we received today, I made this snowflake thank you card. I stamped a thank you sentiment on the not quite navy cardstock & I can't get it to show up very well in the picture.

My goals for this blog for 2010:
* to improve my photography... since I don't see a new camera in my future this year, I'll be reading some blogs to see how I can improve with my current camera.
*to get my card made earlier in the day so I can use natural light.

Not a Card

One of the gals that I chat with posted this yesterday. It got me thinking. I had a 9 cube organizer that wasn't be used to the best of it's potential, so I re-arranged, decluttered, dusted & moved this up into my homeschool/stamping/dining room.

Now, I just need to use part of the ribbon in the shoe boxes so I can condense them. I have a few other things that I can put on those shelves. Or I may buy 3 more white organizer cubes from Michaels & put those under this unit. But, that decision will have to wait for another day.

Until tomorrow!

I got this set for Christmas & decided that I should use it to get a head start on my January birthday cards. I have several birthdays at the beginning of the month.

I've still got a horrible migraine. I probably should have added some bling, but at this point I'm excited to have just completed the card.

Merry Christmas!!

In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town.

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. And the angel said to them, ‘Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.’

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!‘ When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, ‘Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.’”

SNOW!!!

My boys were excited when they saw some of the white stuff falling this afternoon. My youngest wanted me to snap a picture of him out in the "snow". This top picture was taken at 12:30 this afternoon.

The bottom picture was taken at 5pm. I tried to get him to stand in the same place, but he was a little cold!

It was so funny, after bundling up as well as he could... we don't have snow boots, or the proper kind of pants, but he had to go out. He was outside maybe 3 minutes when he comes back inside & says, "MOM!!! It's COLD!!!"
Ummmm... yeah! *wink* This is the most snow we've seen, I think it's the most snow that either one of my boys have seen, other than in pictures.

We have power, we have heat & we don't have to go anywhere. I'm so thankful that we can just stay inside! I'll post a picture of a card later. So far, we have 6 inches & it's still coming down pretty heavily.

Gift Card Holder

We had a wonderful warm day today! God gave me my wish for spring, even if it was only for 1 day!!! It was fabulous!!! Tomorrow is another story. *sigh* We actually have snow in the forecast. Yep, Oklahoma weather is crazy... 70 degrees one day, snow the next. I'm still hoping that we miss the snow... we'll see!

My oldest son was sick today. It was a bummer that he missed out on being able to be outside on this fine day. He told me tonight that he really didn't want to feel this bad ever again. Poor guy! I told him that he really didn't have to share his germs with everyone. We don't have to be anywhere until Saturday, so maybe everyone will be well enough to travel.

I made this gift card holder for my college age niece. I thought she would appreciate the colors.

Stamp Simply #118 - CAS Snow

I enjoyed this week's Stamp Simply challenge. It was to use snow as part of the card & to keep it simple. Thankfully, we haven't had any of the white stuff here so far & that's perfectly fine with me. I'm not a fan of it at all!!! I don't think I've used this stamp, I've always used the tree. The color on my screen looks a little dark, it's Enchanted Evening from Papertrey Ink.

Eclectic Birthday Wishes

It's an exciting week at our house... both of my boys have birthdays. My youngest loves to go fishing, he asks almost every weekend if they can go fishing... even when it's COLD! One of the Gina K. release challenges was to use blue & green dp, so I came up with this for his birthday card. I used a non-Gina K. sentiment because I thought this one was a little easier for him to try to read.

SSShhhhhh!!!!!!

This is a double challenge card. The Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge for this week was to create a card with a package on it. The border punch at the bottom was for this week's Crazy4Challenges Punch Happy Challenge.

Both of my son's have birthdays in the next 10 days. Their birthdays are 2 days apart. My oldest son LOVES turtles. I had this stamp & others on my stamp table Monday & he saw it. He immediately grinned & said, "You are making my card!" I tried to shrug it off & ask why he thought that. He rolled his eyes at me... my son would never roll his eyes at me, he gets that from his dad's side of the family! *wink* Anyway, he said that he knew that it was for him because it was a turtle. I've been sneaking around trying to get this finished & every time I turn around he's there. I had to take my copics into the bathroom to color it. Maybe I can keep this a secret until his birthday... maybe!

Stamp Simply #115 Mass Production

Happy Thanksgiving! Did you count your blessings today? I'm so thankful that my boys run in the house... it means that they are healthy enough to do that. I'm thankful for the socks, shoes & toys that get left on the floor... it means that my kids have those things. I'm thankful that the alarm will be going off at 3:00 am tomorrow... it means that my wonderful hubby has a job to go to. I'm thankful for the medicines that we have readily available to us... both my son & I have had allergy attacks today. I'm thankful for the men & women who are serving our country, defending our freedoms. I'm thankful for the day on the calendar set aside for us to "give thanks" & I hope it is something that we remember to do frequently!

I was so excited when I saw Sharon's Stamp Simply Challenge, was to create a card that could be mass produced easily. I needed one more design for my cards. I got the cardstock cut out for the rest of them, but will put them together tomorrow. I'm going to have to order a refull for my R37 copic, I have used it on so many cards in the past few weeks.

Double Challenge Card

The sketch is loosely based on the sketch from this week's Crazy 4 Challenges sketch.

The 2nd challenge is for the Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge. We were to make a Thanksgiving card.

We have so many things to be thankful for. At our house, we've been talking about the things we are thankful for. Each night, during our family devotions time we name 5 things we are thankful for & they can't be a repeat from our list from a previous day, but they can be something from someone's list. Last night, I said I was thankful for clean indoor, flushing toilets. Growing up on the mission field, I experienced many horrors in this dept. Both of my boys chimed in & said that it wasn't any big deal, they would be happy to go outside... thankfully we live in the sticks!!! LOL! This morning, I told my oldest to go outside to go to the bathroom... he came back inside & said tonight he is going to say that he is thankful for inside bathrooms too! It was a little chilly this morning! LOL! I hope you take some time to think about some of the things you are thankful for. I read a quote today that will be one of the things I say tonight... I'm thankful that Christ came into the world, so I could enter His." Isn't that an incredible thing?

This week's Potluck Friday challenge on stamptv was to create a card using only a sentiment as the background. I thought about this all week. It was definitely a challenge for me!

The next 2 pictures are pictures of my boys. They were helping me with my Christmas cards. They are doing all of the Cuttlebug stuff... not only the embossing folders, but the nestabilities. They loved helping!!! Yesterday was nice enough to have the back door open & my oldest even had his shirt off!!!

My oldest was dancing to Skillet's "Monster" song tonight & ended up smacking his nose against the floor. Yep, it's broken!!! This is the 2nd time that he's broken his nose. Sisters In Christ Challenge #11

This is the last card from me until Monday, I promise!

When I first saw this challenge last Sunday, as I was reading it my cousin's name came to mind. She has had a rough time recently & I just thought of her. Every time I sat down to make this card, I had more interruptions it was crazy!
This week's Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge was to create something to show someone that when times are tough, Christ isn't unseen. Since the new challenge will be posted in just a few hours, I decided I just had to sit down & make this card. My phone rarely rings on Saturday & during the card process, I received 9 phone calls. I finally had to turn the ringer off. It was just crazy!!

My cousin hasn't said much, but I know that she's had a lot going on. She just moved into a new place, in a new city. I pray this card brings her some encouragement.

My youngest son has made the biggest improvement, he's almost 6 & at the beginning of last week, he was asking if we could turn around. Yesterday, he ran and ran and ran.
