More Snow

In honor of the snow we received today, I made this snowflake thank you card. I stamped a thank you sentiment on the not quite navy cardstock & I can't get it to show up very well in the picture.

My goals for this blog for 2010:
* to improve my photography... since I don't see a new camera in my future this year, I'll be reading some blogs to see how I can improve with my current camera.
*to get my card made earlier in the day so I can use natural light.

Not a Card

One of the gals that I chat with posted this yesterday. It got me thinking. I had a 9 cube organizer that wasn't be used to the best of it's potential, so I re-arranged, decluttered, dusted & moved this up into my homeschool/stamping/dining room.

Now, I just need to use part of the ribbon in the shoe boxes so I can condense them. I have a few other things that I can put on those shelves. Or I may buy 3 more white organizer cubes from Michaels & put those under this unit. But, that decision will have to wait for another day.

Until tomorrow!

Carnation Birthday

I got this set for Christmas & decided that I should use it to get a head start on my January birthday cards. I have several birthdays at the beginning of the month.

I've still got a horrible migraine. I probably should have added some bling, but at this point I'm excited to have just completed the card.

Merry Christmas!!

In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This was the first registration when Quirinius was governor of Syria. And all went to be registered, each to his own town.

And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.

And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with fear. And the angel said to them, ‘Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger.’

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!‘ When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, ‘Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.’”

SNOW!!!

My boys were excited when they saw some of the white stuff falling this afternoon. My youngest wanted me to snap a picture of him out in the "snow". This top picture was taken at 12:30 this afternoon.

The bottom picture was taken at 5pm. I tried to get him to stand in the same place, but he was a little cold!

It was so funny, after bundling up as well as he could... we don't have snow boots, or the proper kind of pants, but he had to go out. He was outside maybe 3 minutes when he comes back inside & says, "MOM!!! It's COLD!!!"
Ummmm... yeah! *wink* This is the most snow we've seen, I think it's the most snow that either one of my boys have seen, other than in pictures.

We have power, we have heat & we don't have to go anywhere. I'm so thankful that we can just stay inside! I'll post a picture of a card later. So far, we have 6 inches & it's still coming down pretty heavily.

Gift Card Holder

We had a wonderful warm day today! God gave me my wish for spring, even if it was only for 1 day!!! It was fabulous!!! Tomorrow is another story. *sigh* We actually have snow in the forecast. Yep, Oklahoma weather is crazy... 70 degrees one day, snow the next. I'm still hoping that we miss the snow... we'll see!

My oldest son was sick today. It was a bummer that he missed out on being able to be outside on this fine day. He told me tonight that he really didn't want to feel this bad ever again. Poor guy! I told him that he really didn't have to share his germs with everyone. We don't have to be anywhere until Saturday, so maybe everyone will be well enough to travel.

I made this gift card holder for my college age niece. I thought she would appreciate the colors.

Stamp Simply #118 - CAS Snow

I enjoyed this week's Stamp Simply challenge. It was to use snow as part of the card & to keep it simple. Thankfully, we haven't had any of the white stuff here so far & that's perfectly fine with me. I'm not a fan of it at all!!! I don't think I've used this stamp, I've always used the tree. The color on my screen looks a little dark, it's Enchanted Evening from Papertrey Ink.

Today when I was talking with my Mom, she casually asked if I was going to make a card today using Happy Harmony. She is making all of the ladies in her church birthday cards using Happy Harmony... for the entire year!!!! When I saw the Mojo Monday sketch & since I hadn't put the stamp set away from the last time I used it, I decided I could use it. Plus, I still have 2 more birthday cards for December.

Everyday Blessings Sympathy

I needed a sympathy card & I always have the hardest time with sympathy cards. The dp is Black Tie from My Mind's Eye & I can't decide if it is white or cream. Up against white, it looks cream & yet it doesn't quite match the cream. This sketch is from last week's sketch challenge on stamptv. I LOVE it!

Eclectic Birthday Wishes

It's an exciting week at our house... both of my boys have birthdays. My youngest loves to go fishing, he asks almost every weekend if they can go fishing... even when it's COLD! One of the Gina K. release challenges was to use blue & green dp, so I came up with this for his birthday card. I used a non-Gina K. sentiment because I thought this one was a little easier for him to try to read.

Double Challenge Gift Holder

I made this for this week's Anything But A Card challenge on stamptv & for this week's Crazy 4 Challenges. It looks like we will go to go out town next weekend to do Christmas with one side of the family. I made this for my nephew. I'm sure that he'll be grateful for the money instead of me trying to pick something out for him! LOL!

Money Holders

Our plans got changed... maybe... so I decided to make some gift holders. When I searched on SCS, I found a link to CraftyCaro's blog Her tutorial is fabulous!!! It made putting these together a snap!

I didn't have the punch that she used, but used a different SU punch & a circle punch on the holder.

I will put more than $1 in this when I give it as a gift, I didn't have anything other than ones! *wink*

SSShhhhhh!!!!!!

This is a double challenge card. The Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge for this week was to create a card with a package on it. The border punch at the bottom was for this week's Crazy4Challenges Punch Happy Challenge.

Both of my son's have birthdays in the next 10 days. Their birthdays are 2 days apart. My oldest son LOVES turtles. I had this stamp & others on my stamp table Monday & he saw it. He immediately grinned & said, "You are making my card!" I tried to shrug it off & ask why he thought that. He rolled his eyes at me... my son would never roll his eyes at me, he gets that from his dad's side of the family! *wink* Anyway, he said that he knew that it was for him because it was a turtle. I've been sneaking around trying to get this finished & every time I turn around he's there. I had to take my copics into the bathroom to color it. Maybe I can keep this a secret until his birthday... maybe!
