Another Cherry Card

I made this card for the Potluck Friday challenge on Stamptv. It was to create something with food on it. After seeing the cards made with Gina K.'s new green color last night, I decided to pull out my Kiwi Kiss. (I guess I don't have to hoard it any more! ;) )
I added crystal effects to the cherries. I know I had another cherry card just the other day, but this one has a different feel, even though I used the red check dp with it.

Stamps: Summer Harvest by Gina K.

Cardstock: Kiwi Kiss, Basic Black Real Red, white

The ribbon is olive ribbon from Pink Hedgehog
Black brads & rectangle nestabilites, colored in with copics

SCS Color Challenge Card

I had a hard time with this color challenge: mellow moss, apricot appeal & pixie pink. I didn't have Pixie Pink, so I used Papertrey's Hibiscus Burst. I worked & worked on this card, trying to get something to work. I finally decided to ditch the other colors of cardstock & only go with the pink. The rhinestones match uch better in real life! This probably isn't a color combo that I will be using much! :D

Stamps: Whipper Snapper Blossoms & Butterflies

Ink: Memento Black

C/S: white, Hibiscus Burst

Accessories: Hibiscus Burst ribbon, oval nestabilities, pink rhinestones, Cuttlebug embossing folder, copics

Whipper Snapper Swirly Buds

I got this stamp... some time ago... and it hadn't seen any ink. I decided to actually use it, shocking isn't it?! ;) The Dare to Get Dirty challenge was to use something clear on your card. My stash of "clear" items are pretty limited, in fact... I had 1 choice, dew drops. I decided to put them on the ribbon so they would show up better. (they do in real life!)

Stamps: Whipper Snapper Swirly Buds, sentiment is from Papertrey's Birthday Basics
Cardstock: white, Papertrey Berry Sorbet, Berry Sorbet dp
Ink: Memento Black

Another Dare to Get Dirty Challenge Card

I am enjoying the Dare to Get Dirty Challenges on SCS. I haven't completed as many as I would like or had even planned to have finished.

This card, the challenge was to make a black & white card with a splash of red. When I started the card, I was going in a different direction. The Happy Birthday was a script & more formal for the other option, so I changed in mid-strid! I don't know if you can tell that I used the Scor-Pal.

Stamps: Baroque Motifs, sentiment by Papertrey
Cardstock: white, Real Red, Basic Black
Black ribbon, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots, Red Rhinestone, Scor-Pal

Ink: Papertrey Lavender Moon (my orchid opulence ink didn't match the c/s at all!)

The challenge for this week's Potluck Challenge on stamptv was to stamp on designer paper. The other day, when the boys & I were outside, we saw this incredibly beautiful butterfly. It was black with spots of turquoise. It inspired me to do my butterfly for this card in those colors. The black on the butterfly is colored in with black stickles.

Answer to a few questions

I had several people that wanted to know "exactly" how to custom color the dewdrops & the grosgrain ribbon.

Warning: It is a little messy!!!

Dewdrops: use the clear dewdrops & take your copic marker & color onto the bottom of the dewdrop. The dewdrop will now take on that color. It does take a couple of seconds for it to dry. Now, you can buy 1 color of dewdrops & customize them to the color you need.

Grosgrain ribbon: you will need white grosgrain ribbon & your copic marker. Place something underneath the ribbon, in case it bleeds through. Color the grosgrain ribbon with the copic. It will go all the way through, so you won't need to color both sides. Let it dry for a few minutes. Again, you can now customize your ribbon to match your copic markers. I haven't tried coloring any other type of ribbon, except for the grosgrain.

It's Monday, so that means a color challenge on Stamptv!! Today's color combo was to use red, black & white. I LOVE this combo!!

Color Challenge Card for stamptv

(I can't figure out how to get these two pictures to be the same. It's driving me buggy, so I just thought I would mention that!)

The Color Challenge on Stamptv for this week was to find inspiration from the flowers around you. I happened to be in Colorado last Monday, at Lee Murphy's house. This dandelion was in their yard. It was HUGE. I know it's a dandelion & that the next good wind, those seeds are going to go flying, but it was so pretty! I did change the green to a more aqua green for my card.

Since my hubby & I are sharing a computer for several more days, I decided to post this early in the day. I needed another sympathy card. These are hard for me to make!

Thursday, July 9, 2009

There was a sketch challenge today at LimeLight, Not only was it a sketch challenge, but the product featured was buttons. I added yellow stickles & crystal stickles to this little bee. The designer paper is paper that retired from Stampin' Up! several years ago & I haven't used it all up. I thought I had the Happy Bee-day sentiment that went with this, but I guess I don't.

Does this card look familiar? Look at the blog header. I couldn't find a blog header that I really liked, but found a piece of designer paper that I really liked. A very talented friend of mine designed the blog header, just by looking at the paper!!!!! Isn't that amazing?!!!!! If she gets a website up, or an Etsy shop, I will let you know. She is very talented & amazing!!! Thanks again, Jaimee!!!! :D
